All the Desks I Considered for Our Study

Last week, I shared my plans for our study along with the furniture pieces I’ve chosen for the room. This week I thought I’d share a roundup of all the desks I considered for the room.

Even though my day job is literally designing offices, I felt a lot of pressure making this decision. Joey and I will be each be working from home for two days a week, so it needs to be a shared workstation that works for both of us. I don’t want to mess it up with an expensive piece of furniture that isn’t quite right. (I changed the entire layout of the desk area 3 weeks ago, so I’m clearly having a hard time making decisions here!)

What I chose for us was largely decided by the strange layout of our room, but I saved too many beautiful options along the way to keep them all to myself. In the past few years, companies have really stepped up their game to outfit the home offices of those of us who work from home, and there has never been a better time to find truly beautiful and functional pieces for a home office.

Just a note before we start: these pieces are on the splurgier side. There are certainly less expensive options for outfitting a home office, but I want to share pieces made from high-quality materials that will stand up to years of use. My write-up on why furniture costs what it does can be found here.

Writing Desks

I love a writing desk. Clean, minimizes opportunity for clutter to amass, and generally less expensive than their executive counterparts.

  1. Parsons Desk $479 | This little desk is a great price for a classic style and was my second choice! West Elm has a whole collection in this style, and it’s all commercial grade.

  2. Sit/Stand Walnut Desk $2,435 | This is such a good looking sit/stand desk, also made by a commercial brand. I love that these ergonomic solutions are more available than ever before

  3. Granger Charcoal Oak Desk $699 | Love the grasscloth panels, love the blackened oak, love the hidden outlet for cord management.

  4. Madera 71” Desk $879 | This was the winner for our office, largely because of the hidden cord management. My goal for this office is to see as few cables and cords as possible, and this is going to help massively with that!

Executive Desks

For workspace and storage in one, these desks are gorgeous

5. Quinn Executive Desk $1699 | The fluted drawer fronts! The brass details! The little gap for styling! This didn’t work for our layout, but I wish it had, because I just love it. And commercial grade!

6. Fullerton Modular Desk $1699 | I love the geometries of this one - different enough to be special, but still so functional. I love the marble top!

7. Dolores Cane Desk $1499 | Big fan of the blackened wood with the cane fronts! Such great texture!

8. Parsons Desk $1289 | Nice and simple with so much great storage. Perfect for a more minimalist space. Commercial grade is a bonus.
